Investor Suspense Analyst Team Lead

Position Summary:


This position will be responsible for managing a team of 2+ associates.  Evaluate the quality of work from the team and provide feedback as necessary.  In this role, you will assist in the training of new team members.  Be a resource to the team.  Assist in identifying loan level solutions to issues identified by investors.  This position is also expected to communicate with branches, corporate personnel, third parties and investors, so that suspended files are cleared and purchased within the required time frame in order to avoid or minimize undue expense to the organization.  You will report to Plaza’s Shipping Manager.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 


·         Manage the daily workflow of the investor suspense team to ensure that loans are being worked on and cured for purchase in the required time frames.

·         Investor liaison to ensure timely resolution to outstanding items required pre-purchase by researching and validating against program guidelines, underwriting issues, doc issues, funding issues, and post close issues according to company standards, working with other departments or third parties as needed.

·         Monitor loan status for timely resolution to avoid aging.

·         Serve as escalation point for these issues, communicating directly with branches, corporate personnel and investors as needed.

·         Ensure daily preparation and distribution of Post Closing pipeline report, to include outstanding investor suspense items from all investor sites, removal of purchased loans, and assignment of new loans to Suspense Analyst.

·         Ensure preparation of Daily Wire Report to be sent to Corporate Executives, Post Closing Manager and Investor Suspense Team daily.

·         Monitor and identify investor suspense trends (i.e. RESPA, NRTC, Under disclosed TILs, AIR Compliance, FHA and VA insuring documents) and provide feedback to Supervisor to further research the issue.

·         Monitor funded-allocated loans to ensure timely receipt of loans from the branches to corporate, shipping to investors in order to meet the investor due date.   

·         Provide updates and explanations to Controller for loans aged on warehouse lines, as requested.

·         Notification of declined loans to Supervisor, and  applicable Branch and Operation Managers, and Corporate Underwriting to include notice to Secondary and investors of removal from current commitment, request collateral  be returned by the warehouse bank and identify opportunity for appropriate change in investor if unable to be resolve timely.

·         Report to management at weekly investor suspense meeting the status of all aged outstanding loans, or loans that have been identified as an issue even if not aged.

·         Arrange meetings with Branch Management team as needed to discuss trends, cures or other related topic’s to investor suspense issues.


Required Experience and Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience managing a team of 2+.
  • Leadership prowess and ability to supervise, mentor and train people.
  • Skill in collecting and analyzing data and drawing logical conclusions, including interpretation of complex documents.
  • Understanding and knowledge of residential underwriting lending guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and operate in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • PC literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office software and statistical appraisal software.
  • Experience with closing policy and procedures a plus.
